“If you scream long enough into the void, the void also screams into you.” – Nietzsche*

I’d probably be happier if I didn’t spend my time screaming into the void.

But here I am, soaking in the darkness, full of fresh inky ideas and anecdotes, preparing you a delicious dessert of everything I’ve got going on.

It’s a bleak forest gateau, with layers of self-aware chocolate sponge, topped with an autism icing and the cherries of processed trauma.

I will not let The Void win!

But, the only way we beat the void is by filling it with laughter, together. And maybe also cake.

A brand-new hour of stand-up, served by an aggressively upbeat, neurodivergent comedian, Sam Wade vs The Void is not to be missed!

‘Far more talented than many household-name comedians.’ – Sydney Chic

‘A funny joy to see, in this or any world.’ – Chuck Moore Reviews About

‘A consummate comedian.’ – Glam Adelaide

Get ready to be transported back to the golden era of Hollywood! The evening is a dazzling tribute to the legendary careers of MGM sweethearts, Kathryn Grayson, and Howard Keel, who graced the technicolor screen in timeless classics like “Show Boat” and “Lovely To Look At” – and that’s just the beginning!

Feast your eyes and ears on “Make Believe”, an enchanting cabaret featuring classical singers, Emily Turner and Ian Warwick, and pianist Nathaniel Kong. They’ll take you on a musical journey through the unforgettable songs that Grayson and Keel brought to life in their vivid films, thrilling stage musicals, and concert and nightclub circuits.
The idea for this electrifying show was born from a passionate conversation about old Hollywood stars with friends over a virtual dinner, during the lockdown. And now, it’s coming to life at Meraki Arts Bar, Sydney!
“There is something for everyone here in the recreation of fine 40s-50s movie-musical moments. The clear clever, nature of shows-to-screen  in constant supply from the movie musical making machines of MGM and Warner in  this wartime and post-war era  are just the ticket for escapism in our current times.” Paul Nolan, Sydney Arts Guide
So, put on your best vintage outfit, and join us for a magical evening of old Hollywood glamour and pure, unadulterated entertainment. Don’t forget to grab a drink – you’ll need it!
